| ORHC Report - 1ST XI v ADDISCOMBE 2 (Sat 06-Mar-10) |
| Result: | ADDISCOMBE 2 2 - 10 1ST XI |
| Report: | Old Reigation 1st XI made it 6 unbeaten as they scored 10 for the second time in 3 games, easily beating a weak Addiscombe side 10-2.
ORs have now scored an incredible 35 goals in the last 6 games, taking 16 of the available 18 points in the process.
The game started at frantic pace and although ORs had more of the play, it was Addiscombe who scored the first goal of the game.
ORs were soon on level terms as a quick counter attack resulted in a short corner. A slightly unusual routine worked out well as Terry Skeet found a gap between on-rushing defenders to flick the ball past a motionless ‘keeper.
It wasn’t long before ORs pressure resulted in another short corner and this time a Skeet shot was carefully deflected (poached) past the defender on the post by Tom Wainwright.
The quick double seemed to inspire the Addiscombe team to push forward but this only left them vulnerable at the back as ORs scored their best goal of the afternoon. Jake Sheldon, filling in at right fed Skeet, whose first time ball into the corner found the marauding Matt Bushaway on the right wing. Bushaway drove towards the D and produced an inch perfect cross that Wainwright Snr (assisted by a Josh Evans dummy(?)) slammed home, scoring his 9th in 6 games since his return from injury.
A few short corners later the score was extended to 5-1 as first Joe Wainwright and then Bushaway scored.
Skeet made it 6 before half-time after good work from Evans and Addiscombe kept the slightest of chances of making a comeback alive as they scored just before the break.
HT 6-2
The second half was an even more one sided affair than the first as ORs put a further 4 goals past a lacklustre Addiscombe. Skeet got his 3rd of the day and 27th for the season before Evans ended his goal drought, notching his 21st of the season. Bushaway got one of either of Evans to complete the second hattrick of the afternoon.
The win leaves ORs a point behind 4th place Leatherhead and 9 points from leaders Thames Valley with a game in hand on both. With the top 2 still facing tough games, promotion is not out of the question.
PS – We scored 5 goals from 8 short corners, I wonder what was different this week.
PPS – Dooz scored an own goal. |
