| ORHC Report - 2ND XI v SUNBURY 3 (Sat 06-Mar-10) |
| Result: | 2ND XI 2 - 3 SUNBURY 3 |
| Report: | No snow or frost at St Bedes this week, although a few were still in hibernation in the first half of this game against Sunbury. Following three straight wins, ORs knew that this weeks game would be tougher and the visitors had the better of the first half scoring two goals, one from a P flick. ORs had their chances though, Man of the Match, Simon Quincey, making many strong runs at the Sunbury defence causing them problems. Chances came and went, but wouldn't go in. Dom was rewarded on his birthday (I think he's 12 now!) with the dubious pleasure of playing centre back with a hangover, but nontheless made a good job of it. Roger Humphries in goal, also made some fine saves to keep the score in check.
At half time the formation was re-arranged to better cope with Sunbury's midfield threat and the resurgance began. Sunbury hadn't read the script and scored a third goal, but this was more against the run of play as ORs now had the balance of the game. The first goal came as Gregg Stone swept in from a rebounded Chris Jefferies shot and then Mark Neumann tucked in a ball at the far post, a miss hit foiling the keeper. ORs attacked in waves and more chances came and went, but to no avail and the final whistle was met with differing emotions by the two teams. |
