The 1st XI has been promoted. The move is from out of the Surrey Open League into the South Hockey League, Surrey Division 3. Originally only two teams were to go up. But a team in Surrey Division 2, Richmond Griffins, has moved to the London League and so there is a third promotion spot available.

The Surrey divisions can be seen at www.south-league.com > Surrey.

Sun 02-May-10 - Sports Festival
As the 1st X1 won the award for Team of the Year, we were asked, pressed even, to take part in the Borough Sports Festival on 2nd May. There was a series of runs round the Priory Park, while a range of sports were there to demonstrate or be tried out. The day was one of drenching rain. Three members took part, Ian, Neil and Rob. With the help of a farmer friend of Dave Harris and the farmer's trailer, we collected a goal from Hartswood. In the Park at 9.00 am, we cordoned off an area, put up the goal and Rob pitched his tent (which the wind proved too strong for). Neil stood in the goal and the passers-by (about six children) were encouraged to try and score a goal. If they succeeded (they all did) we gave them a certificate and a flyer for the Club. They may be the players of the future. At 1.00 pm we were too wet to want to continue and, with the agreement of the organisers, we left. We learnt what to do and we hope to be back next year and in the sun.

Fri 05-Mar-10 - Rob's Birthday Bowls
It is with regret that the second international "Rob's birthday bowls" trip failed to have any bowling due to pressure of time, despite the bowling alley being five minutes walk away! But it was an eventful trip, with: 1) Dave H's luggage arriving a little later than planned, to be collected on the way home. 2) Dave being left in Sofia with nothing but his wallet, phone with no credit and flying hat. 3) Dave ending up in the Austrian Embassy. 4) Mark E taking a fancy to a life size doll in a restaurant. 5) A waiter taking a fancy to Rob E. 6) A priest taking a fancy to karaoke. 7) A fear of being taken to a field in the middle of nowhere to be shot. This turned out to be a traditional meal at a local villager's house (see Rob E's facebook wall). 8) Mark E's amazing ski outfit. 9) Bottles of wine for under a quid. 10) A bit of skiing (Paul H on the black run) 11) Last and by all means least, Tom G's jokes.

We're already queueing up for next year.

Sat 13-Feb-10 - Delayed ORs Xmas Spectacular - UPDATE
The plan is now as follows:

7pm in The Priory pub in Reigate 8pm Spice Guru for a curry After that, who knows...

-------------------

I'm sure that it has not gone unnoticed that due to snow, holidays and a general lack of organisation from me, there has been no Xmas Spectacular yet. Well fear not, because I have finally done some organising (actually, I've just picked a date). The delayed ORs Xmas/Winter Spectacular will take place on Saturday 13th February (unless no one can make that date...).

The venue is to be decided, but will most likely be in Reigate as it's nicer than Redhill (and we all know what happened last time I went to the Sun). Please let me know if you are interested in attending.

Cheers,

Dooz
